Safeguarding Policy

Introduction: Vipers Netball Club is committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all its members, especially children, young people, and vulnerable adults involved in our activities. This safeguarding policy outlines our commitment to protecting the welfare of all individuals associated with the club.
2. Purpose: The purpose of this policy is to:
Ensure the welfare and safety of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
Establish a framework for promoting good practice.
Provide guidelines for responding to safeguarding concerns.
3. Policy Statement: Vipers Netball Club is dedicated to the well-being and safety of all individuals participating in our netball activities. We aim to create an environment where everyone feels respected, valued, and protected from harm. We adhere to the principles of fairness, equality, and inclusivity in all aspects of our club activities.
4. Key Principles:
Child-Centric Approach: The welfare of the child is paramount in all our activities.
Inclusivity: We promote inclusivity and diversity and oppose discrimination in any form.
Best Practice: We adhere to best practice guidelines in safeguarding, following national and local regulations.
Clear Communication: We ensure that all members are aware of the safeguarding policy and their roles and responsibilities.
Confidentiality: Information regarding safeguarding concerns will be treated confidentially and shared only with those who need to know.
5. Roles and Responsibilities:
Club Welfare Officer (CWO): Sheba will act as the Club Welfare Officer, serving as the main point of contact for safeguarding concerns.
Committee Members: All committee members are responsible for promoting and implementing the safeguarding policy.
Coaches and Volunteers: Coaches and volunteers must undergo relevant background checks and adhere to the code of conduct outlined in this policy.
6. Code of Conduct: All individuals associated with Vipers Netball Club are expected to adhere to a code of conduct that promotes a safe and respectful environment. This includes appropriate behaviour, language, and communication.
7. Reporting Procedures: Any concerns or suspicions regarding the welfare of a child, young person, or vulnerable adult should be reported immediately to the Club Welfare Officer. The CWO will follow the appropriate reporting procedures as outlined in national and local guidelines.
8. Training and Awareness: All club members, including coaches, volunteers, and committee members, will undergo safeguarding training at regular intervals to ensure awareness and understanding of current policies and procedures.
9. Review and Monitoring: This policy will be reviewed annually and updated as necessary to ensure its effectiveness and compliance with relevant legislation.
10. Implementation: This safeguarding policy will be disseminated to all club members and prominently displayed on the club's website. By accepting membership, individuals commit to complying with the principles outlined in this policy.
